At North Coast Land Conservancy, conserving coastal lands and waters—forever—is our goal. For us, that not only means protecting these special places through acquisition, facilitation, and easements, but also attending to their care, year after year. We are caretakers, long-term stewards.
This same passion for caretaking is exhibited by our Sustaining Stewards, who make recurring automatic donations to our organization, helping to ensure our preservation and to keep us progressing in a sustainable fashion. They give us the ability to keep the lights on, to continue restoring native ecosystems, and to maintain our outreach to coastal communities, among many other things.

On Sunday, March 16, we celebrated this special group of donors with our first annual Sustaining Stewards Spring Social at our Circle Creek Conservation Center.
During the event, we enjoyed gathering with supporters, sharing bubbly from Brut Wine Bar in Astoria and delicious food provided by Sea Level Bakery in Cannon Beach, along with our love for the natural world. It is incredibly fulfilling to be part of such a community that shares common ground in the ground itself and to spend time fostering our connection to one another and the beauty that surrounds us on the Oregon Coast.
Along with joy, there is also a confidence that comes from our mutual understanding that conservation will make our coastal communities more resilient to climate change and its effects, which we need now more than ever. Conservation is climate action.
The forests, wetlands, and tidal waters here on the Oregon Coast are the lungs of the planet. Our environment has some of the greatest capacity in the world to draw down CO2 and sequester carbon, thus naturally combating climate change. Through conservation initiatives that preserve natural corridors and habitat connectivity for plants and wildlife; support biodiversity; and contribute to fresh air and water, we can all take action in a tangible and meaningful way.
We are grateful to our Sustaining Stewards for embracing the importance of our work and demonstrating their commitment through automatic recurring donations. Knowing the amount that is coming in every month enables us to plan and prioritize our projects more strategically.
We also look forward to celebrating this group each year with our spring social. If you’d like to join the party next year, consider becoming a Sustaining Steward!
