Remembering Our Loved Ones

The North Coast Land Conservancy community gathered at Circle Creek Conservation Center on Saturday, April 12, to honor those who have been remembered with memorial gifts to NCLC, throughout our history.

During this special annual event, titled The Forest Remembers, we speak out the names of loved ones who are no longer physically with us, but who remain close at heart and remind us of our unending connection to each other and to nature. It is a celebration of our shared communities of people, plants and wildlife and the circles of life.

About 70 individuals joined together for The Forest Remembers this year. Various NCLC volunteers and board members read the names of those we— and the forest— will remember for all of time.

As Kit Ketcham’s “The Forest Remembers: Litany of Remembrance” reads: “Memories of those whose lives are finished on this earth bring tears to those who are left behind; we come to the forest for solace and peace, for we remember, and the Forest Remembers.”

Next year’s The Forest Remembers will be held Saturday, April 25, at Circle Creek Conservation Center. If you would like to memorialize a loved one with a gift to NCLC, you can learn more here.
