Neacoxie Prairie Habitat Reserve
We’re partnering with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for a Hocus-Pocus Pollinator Planting for Halloween! We’ll be at our Neacoxie Prairie Habitat Reserve from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to plant thousands of plugs for native pollinator species—including asters, goldenrod, and lupine—and we need as many hands as possible to help us get them into the ground. We’re hoping these plants work their magic and continue to improve this property to serve as potential Oregon silverspot butterfly habitat. But regardless, these flowers will support a wide diversity of native pollinators in the years to come! This is a family friendly event, and pollinator costumes are strongly encouraged.
What to Bring:
Since it’s the end of October, there’s a good chance the weather will be cool and wet (which is good for the plants!). Dress appropriately for a few hours in the field. Bring water, work gloves, and a trowel, if you have them. NCLC also will provide any necessary tools and gloves. Please leave your pets at home.
