Reed Ranch Habitat Reserve

We’re once again partnering with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for our second Hocus-Pocus Pollinator Planting this Halloween! We’ll be at our Reed Ranch Habitat Reserve from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to plant around 1,300 plugs—including asters, violets, and dune sedges—to enhance the coastal prairie for native pollinator species. And we need volunteers to help us get them into the ground!

These plants will work their magic and continue to improve this property to serve as potential Oregon silverspot butterfly habitat, as well as support a wide diversity of other native pollinators in the years to come!

This is a family friendly event, and pollinator costumes are strongly encouraged.

What to Bring: Since it’s the end of October, there’s a good chance the weather will be cool and wet (which is good for the plants!). Dress appropriately for a few hours in the field. Bring water, work gloves, and a trowel, if you have them. NCLC also will provide any necessary tools and gloves. There are no restrooms on site, and no pets allowed on NCLC properties.
