Rainforest Reserve Management Plan
In 2021, NCLC acquired the approximately 3,500-acre Rainforest Reserve on the Coast Range. Since then, we’ve worked with partners, supporters, stakeholders, and community members—including the Land Trust Alliance, the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, The Climate Trust, the National Park Service, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the National Park Service—to create a climate-focused management plan.

We’ve condensed the original plan (roughly 200 pages) into a 12-page summary that highlights our conservation values and management strategies for this incredible reserve, part of an uninterrupted 32-square-mile conservation corridor that
stretches from the summits of 3,000-foot peaks within the Oregon Coast Range to Short Sand Beach and the sandy seabed and rocky reefs of the nearshore ocean.
Because of the property’s size, species diversity, dramatic elevation gradient, and
connectivity with other protected lands, the Rainforest Reserve is expected to be highly
resilient to the effects of climate change on plant and animal communities. View a PDF of our Rainforest Reserve Management Plan.
