NCLC hires new communications coordinator

Seaside resident Katherine Lacaze has been hired as North Coast Land Conservancy’s new communications coordinator. Katherine, who started the position in January 2021, has lived on the Oregon Coast since 2014.

She grew up in the small town of Kingman, Arizona, before heading to a university in Virginia to study journalism. After graduating in December 2010, Katherine worked as a copy editor and reporter for numerous print publications in Virginia and Oregon. Her subsequent work as a freelancer involved writing magazine and newspaper articles, blog posts, web content and educational material.

In the summer of 2020, she was hired by NCLC to manage its social media, which led to overseeing all of NCLC’s communication efforts. She has a deep passion for the natural world and coastal conservation.
“I have been a big fan of NCLC for many years now,” Katherine says. “I appreciate the organization’s thoughtful, positive and competent approach to coastal conservation. Getting to serve NCLC, and our community, as the communications coordinator is a longtime dream fulfilled for me.”

When not working, Katherine enjoys participating in theater productions as an actor and director, reading, writing and spending time with her daughter, Juliette.

Katherine succeeds Bonnie Henderson, who is retiring in January but plans to continue volunteering with NCLC in the future. Bonnie served NCLC as a volunteer for many years before assuming the role of communications coordinator for the organization in 2012. Bonnie plans to continue to spearhead NCLC’s annual CoastWalk Oregon and assist in other capacities as a volunteer.
