CoastWalk Oregon 2024 is fast approaching! From Sept. 20 to 22, we plan to walk roughly 30 miles along a spectacular portion of the Oregon Coast Trail, and we’d love to give you a sneak preview.
First, here’s a little overview of the routes we’ll be taking each day during CoastWalk Oregon:
Day 1: From Hug Point State Recreation Site, we’ll walk south down the beach to Arch Cape, cross a suspension footbridge, then follow a forest trail up and over Cape Falcon, pausing for a snack stop along the way. At Short Sand Beach, we’ll head up a short trail through ancient cedars.
Day 2: From the Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain North Trailhead, we’ll walk up and over the mountain, cross U.S. highway 101, hit the beach and pause for snacks at Manzanita. Then it’s a beach walk on Nehalem Spit before we catch a boat to reach the buses waiting to return us to Cannon Beach.
Day 3: We’ll start back at Hug Point State Recreation Site, but on this day, we will hike northbound, around historic Hug Point on a wagon road blasted out of the rock more than a century ago. We’ll continue up the beach, past Cannon Beach, and over Ecola Creek, to enter Ecola State Park, where we’ll end our walk at Ecola Point
But why just read about it? Take a short visual tour of this year’s route in the video below!
