Hands-On Stewardship: Nehalem Bay Clean-Up

Fishers-Point-web-Saturday, March 7

Orientation 7:30 a.m.
Tsunami Bar & Grill,
380 Marine Drive,
Wheeler

Join friends and neighbors working together to keep the Nehalem Bay estuary clean, healthy and beautiful at the 9th Biennial Nehalem Bay Estuary Clean-Up. Help us pick up assorted debris in every imaginable shape, size, and color while learning about this region’s ecology and the potential threats posed by marine debris. This year’s Clean-Up includes a family-friendly site in Nehalem Bay State Park led by park ranger Shelley Parker with fun activities and hands-on education. Science educator Peter Walczak will lead a youth crew cleaning up marine debris at the state park jetty.  Youth and families may join the 7:30 a.m. orientation in Wheeler or may go directly to the boat ramp in Nehalem Bay State Park at 8:30 a.m., where there will be an orientation for them.

The Clean-Up takes place rain or shine; dress for the weather and wear waterproof boots and work gloves. Bring drinking water and a sack lunch. Return to Tsunami Bar and Grill in Wheeler from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a celebration with chili and cornbread, root beer floats, and live music. Bring a dry change of clothes for the party!
