  • Boneyard Ridge Tree Planting Aims for Species Diversity

In rain, in sunshine, even in snow, North Coast Land Conservancy’s Land Steward Eric Owen has traveled up to Boneyard Ridge multiple times over the past several weeks to find homes for 1,400 western redcedar and 100 bigleaf maple trees.

  • Wildlife takes centerstage at Thompson Creek and Stanley Marsh

Nestled at the foot of a hillside housing development on the east side of Seaside, the Thompson Creek and Stanley Marsh Habitat Reserve has been part of North Coast Land Conservancy’s family of properties for about 15 years. Over that

  • Listening to What Nature has to Say

In Tommy Larson’s opinion, “When we go out in nature, we’re going into the real world.” The naturalist photographer, who moved to the area in 2012 and goes by G.T. Larson professionally, takes as many opportunities as he can to

Seaside Aquarium's inaugural “Maine Event” fundraiser will take place this Sunday (Feb. 28). All admissions collected on this date will be donated to the Seaside Library Foundation in Neal Maine's honor.

Neal (NCLC's founding executive director) has been involved with the aquarium for many years. He served on the board of directors from 1995 to early 2020, and was the impetus behind the Seaside Beach and Necanicum Estuary Discovery Program.

Neal's continued dedication to the Seaside Aquarium, the community and nature is inspirational. 💚

The project—spearheaded by our land steward Eric—is geared toward enhancing species diversity on Boneyard Ridge, which is part of a large conservation corridor that includes Ecola State Park and our Circle Creek Conservation Center south of Seaside.

Eric is set to finish up at the end of this month with a little help from NCLC volunteer Colin Meston!

Bright, beautiful lichen in the proposed Rainfores Bright, beautiful lichen in the proposed Rainforest Reserve is one more colorful demonstration that this whole place is brimming with the Earth's precious treasures that we hope to conserve.

Relics of an ancient volcanic event, the peaks of this 3,500-acre reserve—which now ascend like islands in the sky—were once isolated by an oceanic moat. That isolation gave rise to a unique landscape of incredible diversity, not unlike the famed Galapagos Islands.

An effort is now underway to restore the wild roots of the Rainforest Reserve. After working years toward this goal, we are in the midst of the home stretch. Learn more about this landmark conservation effort by following the link in our bio!

Well, that "high water" warning for the Sleepy Hol Well, that "high water" warning for the Sleepy Hollow Trail at Fort Stevens State Park sure delivered 😂!

This week, Bonnie and Randall did some trail scouting for NCLC's 2021 CoastWalk Oregon (@coastwalkoregon), which is scheduled for Sept. 10-12! Needless to say, this trail won't be included, but we have a few other exciting ideas!

Plus, as Bonnie says, when scouting out cool trails with her brother, "At worst, it's an adventure." 💚

Registration for this year's event opens June 1. Stay tuned!

Came across this during a recent site visit to the proposed Rainforest Reserve.
Just happens to be one of the largest cedar stumps we've ever seen!
