Plant willow wands at Clear Lake

DATE SUBJECT TO CHANGE, DEPENDING UPON WEATHER CONDITIONS

When NCLC conserved Clear Lake in 2013, it was the last undeveloped dune lake on the Warrenton peninsula outside of Fort Stevens State Park. We immediately began restoring an eroded dune on the property. Today Clear Lake Habitat Reserve includes an emerging wetland complete with resident beavers and bald eagles. What it needs next: more willows to shade out invasive reed canary grass. We’ll be cutting and planting willow wands, plus–as time permits–do some maintenance on existing plantings and some weeding around native plants already in place.

Contact Stewardship Director Melissa Reich at melissar@nclctrust.org or 503-738-9126 to let her know you’ll be coming. Bring a lunch, and prepare to get muddy. We’ll work rain or shine (barring extreme weather). There are no toilets on the property. Dogs are not allowed at NCLC habitat reserves.
