Eventbrite - Basket Weaving Workshop

North Coast Land Conservancy has arranged for fiber artist Donna Sakamoto Crispin to return to Seaside to teach a basketry workshop at Circle Creek. Participants will weave a small basket, about 3 1/2 inches tall, wide, and deep, from Oregon-grown cattail, daylily, and yellow iris. She will teach two techniques, plaiting and twining, as well as the folded-down border. She will also talk about harvesting these plants and other basketry materials.

The workshop will be held outside or in the (unheated) barn, depending on weather, so dress for the day. Donna will provide all the necessary materials. Bring your lunch, water, and kitchen or basketry shears.

Limit of 12 students (minimum 5 students). $10 of each $65 registration supports NCLC’s coastal conservation work.

Registration is requiredRegister online or call Lynette at 503-738-9126. To make payment, mail a check for $65 (made out to North Coast Land Conservancy, memo line “Basket weaving class”) to North Coast Land Conservancy (attn: Lynette Villagomez) PO Box 67, Seaside, OR 97136. For more details, call Lynette.

Circle Creek Conservation Center is at the end of Rippet Road in Seaside; look for it on the west side of US 101, 0.7 mile north of the junction with US 26. Follow the road west and north a short distance, passing a gravel quarry on your left, to where it ends between two barns.
