The Tidepool Ambassador Program (TAP) is back for 2023!

TAP volunteers will be at the tide pools on Short Sand Beach, adjacent to the Cape Falcon Marine Reserve, during low tides. Their passion is sharing with visitors about the vibrant marine life supported by the tide pools and how we can respectfully interact with these sensitive ecosystems.

Leading the program this year are two seasonal NCLC team members: TAP Coordinator Jolene Magee and TAP Guide Jet Ideue.

We’re so lucky to have these two on the ground, spreading awareness, education, and a love of the marine environment.

Cirsium edule is native to western North America, and one of two native thistle in Oregon. It is part of the aster family.

As the name implies, it has nutritional and medicinal value, making it a favorite of foragers!

Save the date! We’re hosting a Family Fun Day at

Save the date! We’re hosting a Family Fun Day at Circle Creek Conservation Center to kick off the summer.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 17, we’ll be at the reserve, offering a critter crawl with biologist Mike Patterson, face painting, seed-ball making, and a nature art project. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with friends and family.
