Gateway to Discovery
A first glimpse of the ocean along Oregon's Pacific Coast Scenic Byway shows surprising connections. Oregon's coastal region has a diverse landscape -- upland forests, salmon spawning streams, rocky coastal cliffs. People have valued the bountiful natural resources between the ridgetops and the ocean for more than 4,000 years. North Coast Land Conservancy's Gateway to Discovery field programs provide an entry point to Oregon's coastal riches -- birding, geology, and a salmon rich watershed. These programs serve the community and its visitors by extending beyond the walls of any building. Come walk in an ancient spruce forest, learn about local birding in a restored estuarine lake, watch for bald eagles while the tides come and go, learn about the region's natural, cultural, and historical resources. It's all connected!
