Necacanicum Bird Discovery DaySaturday, March 6, 8:45 A.M. - 3:00 P.M., Bob Chisolm Community Center, Seaside
Please join us on Saturday, March 6th for the fourth annual Necanicum Bird Discovery Day! Sponsored by the Necanicum Watershed Council, the Sunset Empire Transportation District, and Boone Construction, the day begins with guided bird walks at the Mill Ponds and Little Beach. For the Mill Ponds walk, meet at Alder Mill Road off Avenue S in Seaside (near the Seaside Recycling Center) [map]. For the Little Beach walk, meet at the H Street parking lot in Gearhart, also at 8:45 A.M. [map]. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather, including sturdy walking shoes. Main events at the Bob Chisolm Community Center, 1225 Avenue A, Seaside, will begin at 10:00 am. Mike Patterson, local ecologist, will give a presentation on birds of the North Coast, and then Sharnelle Fee of the Wildlife Center of the North Coast will show us some of the rescued birds that live at the wildlife center. After that, you can hone your hammering skills with the ever popular "Build Your Own Bird Nesting Box" activity, or, for the more artistically inclined, decorate your own reusable canvas shopping bag! Materials and guidance provided for both activities. All ages and skill levels welcome. Also on hand will be displays and information from other coastal organizations that work with nature and wildlife including Haystack Rock Awareness Program, Master Gardeners, Seaside Aquarium, North Coast Land Conservancy, and more! To round out the day, there will be a Raffle Prize Drawing! Bring your friends, bring your family. Necanicum Bird Discovery Day is a great day for bird lovers of all ages! |
